catching up

Much has happened in the last month. Most importantly, Josh's 31 birthday. We had a bunch of fun going around town, getting to know Des Moines a little better and enjoying some nice spring weather. His blog has all the details. My job is going well and my spanish is improving everyday. I thought at first I would take some english calls but I havent spoken to someone in english since last week! Colbert has taken to the great outdoors like a duck to water and complains loudly on days he is not allowed out. Next week Josh finally moves down here and our moving purgatory will be over!!! It has deepened our appreciation of each other and we cannot wait to experience life together again. The photos below are from the new downtown library, the view from our patio, the muscle car shop we visited and a lovely nearby lake we can walk to from our house.

Long time no Blog

Sorry for the long gap in posts.... we have been very busy lately!

At the end of February we moved to Des Moines because of my new job. I started the day after we moved and its been moving fast ever since. A job requirement is a series 6 investment license because I will be working with retirement plans. I studied a thick book for 3 weeks and then took my test which, mercifully, I passed on the first try. It was a blessing in disguise that Josh was not around because it was much easier to study with no one around to distract me.

Josh graduates in may and moves down here immediately after, hopefully he will find a job he likes very soon and then we can stop counting our pennies so closely!

Spring is slowly but surely coming to the midwest and we cannot wait to start spending afternoons and evenings on our porch that overlooks a city park. There are birds, deer, raccoons, and other little creatures that make our view very exciting for little kitty kats to watch.

Speaking of, Colbert has already broken a window blind in our bedroom. We are taking the damages out of his allowance.

Moving Day

Big news, Big change. We are moving! Josh and I have both known we would not stay in the Cedar Valley for long, but we are moving sooner than expected. I got a job offer in Des Moines with great pay and great benefits, and i, of course, accepted. I will be moving at the end of the motnh with Colbert to our new place and Josh will be staying with two amazing friends who graciously offered their extra bedroom. He is finishing school for the next two months so we will be playing long distance. I'm sure it will go plenty fast as he wraps up his school work and I study for my stockbroker's license, which is required for my job. We are hoping that the weather will be good and we can find a great apartment at a great price. Watch this space for updates.

Fun with Kitty Kat

12.25.2007

So we had a good first Christmas. Spent lunch on Sunday with my family followed by games and then came back to waterloo for Josh's extended familly dinner at the Brown Bottle. Christmas eve we enjoyed our new gifts and took our gift cards shopping for new clothes and a game (JEOPARDY!) we have been wanting. Today we are going back down and visiting more family followed by a trip to the cinema to watch Sweeney Todd. Apparently the theatres in our town won't be showing it because of a distribution deal gone wrong. It was also a white Christmas, which hasn't happened in a few years. Saturday we got about 6 inches, on top of the 3 we already have. Anyways, here are the obligatory pictures with a liberal dose of colbert per adam's request.

These are cumulative from a wedding, a snow/ice storm, colbert adventures, birthday party celebration, etc. Forgive me for i was too lazy to justify the orientation.
