So we had a good first Christmas. Spent lunch on Sunday with my family followed by games and then came back to waterloo for Josh's extended familly dinner at the Brown Bottle. Christmas eve we enjoyed our new gifts and took our gift cards shopping for new clothes and a game (JEOPARDY!) we have been wanting. Today we are going back down and visiting more family followed by a trip to the cinema to watch Sweeney Todd. Apparently the theatres in our town won't be showing it because of a distribution deal gone wrong. It was also a white Christmas, which hasn't happened in a few years. Saturday we got about 6 inches, on top of the 3 we already have. Anyways, here are the obligatory pictures with a liberal dose of colbert per adam's request.

These are cumulative from a wedding, a snow/ice storm, colbert adventures, birthday party celebration, etc. Forgive me for i was too lazy to justify the orientation.

One Whole Month!

We can't believe one month has passed, it went super quick! I almost reached my goal of finishing all the thank yous before then, only 15 left! As short as it seemed its been a great month. We are working out the kinks of living together and having a great time.

kitty surprise

We have a new member of our family! His name is Colbert (with a hard "T" like Q-bert) and he came from a local shelter. He is a gray domestic short hair with white boots and streaks on his chest, neck and nose. He's 2.5 months old and a very good boy, already well trained. His only weakness is sleeping on top of Josh and/or I for the warmth and security, but I suppose I will miss it when he is all grown up. He also hates being left alone, because when one of us comes home for the day we are met with meows of joy and a kitten bounding to the door Colbert was an early birthday present from Josh. We had been discussing getting a pet for awhile, and i visited the shelter corner at PetsMart and saw this little guy. He is a great addition and proves Josh is the best husband a girl could want!

Not much big news, I guess after you get married everything else seems less exciting by comparison. We started back to work, and school, this week Monday afternoon. It is a bit abrupt but we agree that taking a delayed honeymoon is better because if we had taken it immediately following the first three days would have been spent sleeping! I cannot believe how tired we both were over the weekend and even into the week.

The majority of things are put away now and thank yous are getting started, we have so many thoughtful friends and family!

The next project is to paint the apartment, and I cannot wait to get started. We may not be here that long but we need to make it home as much as possible. We have a great landlord who encourages personalization. I want to get it done before Thanksgiving.

P.S. if anyone needs M&Ms just let us know we still have another bag full and Josh cant eat that many that fast... or at least i wont let him try.

Even closer

Only 3 more weeks! We are starting to get really excited. I had a family bridal shower on Sunday and it was a great time, i got to see some old family friends and everyone brought wonderful gifts. The weather has turned a bit frosty in the evenings, i hope it stays warm long enough for an outdoor ceremony! Josh and I went to the Amanas on labor day with some good friends and I managed to take a nice picture of josh without funny faces or frowns, which is quite the achievement. I will post it soon.

Only six weeks now, can't believe how quickly the time is moving now. Josh is packing up some of his things already, he is making a temporary move to a friends house and moving into my place the first week of october.

We have decided on music for the ceremony (violin solo) and reception (jazz quartet). I am finalizing the menu and josh is working on photography.

I am having a bridal shower with family and another for friends next month, it will be nice to see everyone and have some fun.

Josh started back to school this week so he is quite busy with that and his two jobs. Hopefully it wont be too much, and we will see each other once in awhile!

Checklist is shrinking..

Josh has ordered the cake he wants and found a dashing suit. We reserved hotel rooms and sent the invitations to the printer. We have created two registeries, one at target
and a honeymoon registry

We are going to Dubrovnik, Croatia. Josh was watching one of his favorite shows and it featured Croatia. We did a bit of research and decided this is one place we really want to visit. It is an ancient city with old fortress walls and it overlooks the adriatic, since it is on the very southern tip of croatia.

We are finding many interesting things to do and see, we cannot wait!

we finally arrived at a design that we are happy with:

On the road again

Last weekend we were once again out of town. This time we went to Minneapolis to see Josh's friends Nate and Stacey. Stacey's birthday has become an annual event of the season. We went out on a boat on Lake Minnetonka and then went back to their house and grilled out. We ended the evening with sparklers and pirate ship cake - her birthday was pirate themed. The next day I took my very first trip to IKEA, and I really liked it. The entire experience was very interesting, that store knows what its doing. here are some pictures from the weekend:

The only constant is change!

So a lot has happened since the last post! We have finally found a place for the reception... the Waterloo Center for the Arts. It has a great facility with a kitchen attached and has a terrace that we can use as well... fingers are crossed that the weather will be great!

We had to move the reception to Friday so now everything is on the same day, which after thinking about it I like because it makes a few things more simple. We are tenatively scheduling the ceremony for 4 p.m. that day and the reception to begin at 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. - still sketching that out but have to decide quickly so we can finish invitations.

Next week I go for my first dress session, that will be fun to finalize the design and move forward with planning one more thing. We also have our first pre-marital counseling next Saturday - that will be interesting, I'm not sure what to expect, but several friends have said she is great.

More to come... see you soon!

We went to Chicago this past weekend to see some friends.. My friend Nick lives there and I havent seen him in forever and Josh's friends Sam and Becca were in town visiting family so we each got to make new friends. it was a blast and I would seriously put chicago on the list of places we might go.
